Aid to Africa is a bit patronising / hypocritical when considering how much the west plunders Africa's resources.

Why is Africa perceived to be a land of warfare, disease and famine? Nigerian oil should make Nigeria one of the richest countries in the world not one of e poorest. Same with South Africa diamonds and gold. Exploitation, tribalism, political corruption and guns. The west is in part responsible for this state of affairs. Why hasn't Africa got decent water management in the 21 century? Why hasn't Africa got decent food distribution? Why no decent national healthcare. Why no decent proper roads and maintenance? These are fundamental structural flaws that need addressing by well educated well paid civil engineers and farmers not bent politicians with suitcases of cash and helicopters to fly away. Africa doesn't need a band aid on these problems. Aid itself has been turned into a racket for extortion.
Band aid is laudable for the short term. Where are the long term plans?
